How to Find Your Clothing Size in Any Country (Without Guessing)
You've probably been here. You find a dress on a UK site and it says 12. The brand you usually buy from says 8. A Japanese label says 15. Then an Italian one says 46. They could all be the same size, or none of them could be.
Size labels are local. Every region picked its own numbering system years ago, and none of them line up neatly. That's why we built the Salupata Size Finder. It's a free clothing size converter that works from your body measurements instead of a label you already own.
Why size labels are so confusing
A size number doesn't measure anything by itself. A US 8 isn't 8 inches or 8 centimetres of anything. It's a spot on a chart that one country agreed on.
Here's how one medium women's dress size looks across regions:
International: M
US: 8
UK: 12
EU: 40
France: 42
Italy: 46
Japan: 15
Korea: 66
All eight of those are cut for roughly the same body: a bust of 90 to 93 cm. That's why measurements are the more reliable starting point. Your bust is 91 cm whether you shop in Colombo, London or Seoul.

How to measure yourself properly
Your result is only as good as your measurements. Here's how to take them:
Wear light clothing. A thin T-shirt is fine. A thick jumper will add centimetres.
Bust or chest: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms, and keep it level all the way around.
Waist: Measure around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above your belly button.
Hip: Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Neck (men's shirts): Measure around the base of your neck where a collar sits. Slip one finger under the tape so it isn't too tight.
Keep the tape snug but not pulling. If you're between two numbers, write down the bigger one.

Women's dresses: A 92 cm (about 36 inch) bust matches an International M, which is a US 8, UK 12, EU 40, FR 42, IT 46, JP 15 and KR 66.
Men's suits: A 100 cm chest is about an EU 50 and a UK/US 40, which is International M. A handy rule: the EU suit size is roughly half your chest in centimetres, and the UK/US size is the EU size minus 10.
Men's dress shirts: A 39 cm neck is an EU 39, or 15½" in US and UK sizing.

A quick note on accuracy
Size conversions get you close, but they aren't exact. Brands cut differently, and even within one country the same size can vary by about one step. Use the region label as your starting point, and always compare your measurements with the brand's own size chart when there is one. When in doubt, the measurements win.
